Edna Meyer-Nelson

Edna Meyer-Nelson, Immediate Past-President
As President and Chief Executive Officer of The Richland Companies, Edna Meyer-Nelson directs all business activities for Richland Investments, Richland Brokerage, Richland Asset Management, Richland Commercial Mortgage, Richland Leasing, Richland Tenant Representation, Richland Property Management, Richland Land Development and LandRich Construction. Since founding The Richland Companies in 1993, she has amassed a portfolio of 30 properties in four states representing almost 2 million square feet of commercially owned and managed property throughout the Southwestern United States valued in excess of $250 million.

The keys to her success have been a keen eye for prime commercial properties, to personally oversee the acquisition and management of each of her properties, stay liquid, diversify her business in a manner that stays true to the company philosophy and maintain the highest level of service to tenants while reducing expenses and maximizing profits. She also takes pride in her ability to surround herself with the best possible team to ensure continued growth for this multi-million dollar firm.

Meyer-Nelson is a graduate of Southern Methodist University with post-graduate degrees from the University of Houston and the University of Colorado. She is an active member of the American Business Women’s Association and a frequent guest lecturer for a variety of graduate, undergraduate and continuing education courses at Rice University and University of Houston. A longtime board member of Houston Children’s Charity, in 2009 Edna earned the distinction of presiding as its first female President. She also serves on the boards of several other charities, including the Houston Police Foundation, the American Festival for the Arts and the University of Texas Harris County Psychiatric Center. She is a member of The Cooley Circle, a Charter Member of Baylor Research Advocates for Student Scientists and a recipient of the CAPS Cherished Companion Award. Meyer-Nelson has been named one of Real Estate Forum’s 2010 Women of Influence, a top finalist for “Business Woman of the Year” and “Entrepreneur of the Year” and continually garners top spots on The Houston Business Journal’s Top 50 Women Owned Businesses, Top 50 Fastest Growing Businesses, and Top 100 Diversified Businesses in the United States. She currently resides in Houston, Texas.
