James D. Woods, Advisory Board
James D. Woods retired from Baker Hughes Incorporated and its predecessor, Baker International on January 22, 1997, after 41 years of service. Prior to Baker Hughes, Mr. Woods served four years in the United States Air Force. Mr. Woods served as President of several Baker affiliates and in 1987 was the driving force behind the merger of two of the largest companies in the oil service industry - Baker International and Hughes Tool Company. He served as President and CEO of the merged companies and also assumed the Chairmanship in January 1989. On his retirement from Baker Hughes Incorporated, Mr. Woods was given the title of Chairman Emeritus. Baker Hughes, headquartered in Houston, Texas, provides equipment and services to the petroleum industry.
In addition, Mr. Woods serves on the Boards of Directors of the following public companies: Foster Wheeler Ltd., ESCO Technologies and Complete Production Services. He is also a director of CapRock Communications, a privately held company.
He serves as director of Petroleum Equipment Suppliers Association (past president), National Ocean Industries Association (past chairman), the Greater Houston YMCA (past chairman) and the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. Mr. Woods received the Houston YMCA's coveted David Allen award. He is a former trustee of the National Boys and Girls Clubs of America and is a recipient of their prestigious Herbert Hoover Humanitarian Award. He is a former director of Memorial Healthcare System in Houston, Texas, the Kroger Company in Cincinnati, Ohio, United States Energy Company (USEC) in Bethesda, Maryland, OMI Corporation in Stamford, Connecticut, and National Oilwell Varco in Houston, Texas. He is also a lifetime director of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
Mr. Woods graduated from California State College - Fullerton and on May 28, 2006, was awarded an Honorary Doctors Degree from his alma mater. |
