Michael C. Linn, Advisory Board
Michael C. Linn currently serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of LINN Energy, LLC, which he founded in 2003 after a 20-plus-year career in the natural gas and oil industry. Since then, Mike has led a team of dedicated employees to grow LINN Energy from a small private company operating a handful of natural gas wells into a publicly traded, multi-billion dollar organization with nearly 600 employees spread across more than a dozen U.S. locations. As past Chairman of the Independent Petroleum Association of America, he has spent countless hours paving the way for natural gas and oil development. He continues to serve as an industry spokesman and on the Boards of numerous industry trade organizations.

While he has been growing a company and serving an industry, he has also adopted a wide network of charitable organizations that improve the quality of lives in the Houston community. He currently serves on the Advisory Board of Houston Children’s Charity and on the Boards of the Texas Heart Institute and the Houston Police Foundation. He also serves on the Board of Trustees and is the Chairman of the Corporate Committee for Texas Children’s Hospital. In addition, he serves on the Board and Education Committee of the Museum of Fine Arts Houston. He has also served on the Boards of Small Steps Nurturing Center and the Youth Development Center.

“I believe that everyone, especially children, should have the opportunity to live healthy lives and expand their horizons through the arts and education,” explains Mike. After losing his son to a congenital heart defect, he understands the priceless value of medical research. He established the Texas Children’s Hospital Matthew Linn Endowed Fund in Congenital Heart Surgery and the Matthew Linn Fund for Congenital Heart Surgery Education and Training.

As a new member of the University of Houston Wolff Center of Entrepreneurship Advisory Board, Mike plans to help expand the minds of young adults that have the potential to become the innovative business leaders of tomorrow.
