Houston Children’s Charity has had a Toy Distribution for underserved children since its inception in 1996 where we began by assisting 500 children with toys. In great part, due to the Marines Toys for Tots, of which we’ve been the grateful recipients for the past 4 years, our program has continually increased and we hope to assist over 15,000 children with toys this year. In addition to our Toy Distribution program, we also have an Adopt-a-Family program and an annual Children’s Christmas Party for over 500 children.
Pat & Patricia Harrison of Warehouse Associates have donated warehouse space for HCC for several years and throughout the year for our other programs. This year they did not have the additional space available for the magnitude of anticipated toys. Without the assistance of the George R. Brown Convention Center and the 125,000 square feet of donated space, HCC would not have had a venue appropriate for the numbers. This year the City of Houston became the facilitator for yet one magnificent Christmas for its children. It is a true sign of the times when a City pulls together to this degree. HCC understands that the GRBCC and the City cannot give space to every charity. We are extremely grateful they have chosen to direct their generosity to us. Houston Children’s Charity’s Board of Directors is proud to partner with the George R. Brown Convention Center and the Marines Toys for Tots to bring a little holiday joy and happiness to Houston’s special children.
In addition, this holiday season we will have over 450 volunteers assisting us with our holiday programs, as well as Houston Police Officers securing our 15th Annual Christmas Party at the Hyatt Regency Houston and Toy Distribution at the George R. Brown Convention Center.
